ICFF 2014 Recap: Organic Modernism

Another ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) is in the books and we had a blast meeting with new and familiar designers alike. With dozens of aisles of furniture, lighting, and textiles from all over the world, it seems hard to believe that you would find a common theme between most. However, as we trekked the “design globe” that is the famed Jacob K Javits Center, we realized that a common thread does, in fact, connect the hundreds of exhibitors: organic modernism. Clean, smooth lines with round forms and bulbous shapes, this year’s curation took a departure from the strong lines of modern design and went back to its (organic) roots. Take a look at a few of our favorite examples of how designers are abandoning the straight edge and embracing the curve: Clockwise from top left: 1. Brit + Co. Shop Launch

When the creative team behind Brit + Co. contacted us after spotting our ShopRethink bottle openers, we couldn’t be more thrilled to collaborate for their exciting new shop launch this May. If you’re unfamiliar with the inspirational lovechild of Brit Morin, Brit + Co. is a daily creative resource for designers and DIYers alike. Their new shop features makers from all over the country with bright and colorful home goods aimed to add a little flair to your space. After we made the decision to become a part of the shop launch, we knew we had to take our Painted Bottle Openers to the next level. The revamp includes three new, on-trend colors (mint, emerald, fuchsia) and a water proof paper sleeve with coordinating stitch detail. We’re so pleased with the end result, we wouldn’t be surprised if an impromptu cocktail party hit the Rethink calendar sometime soon. Check out…

Below are a few of our favorites we hope to see again. Be sure to follow us on Instagram to keep up to date with our latest findings and Big Apple adventures!

Top Pins of the Week: Bringing The Outdoors In

If you’re not keen on relying on meteorologists for weather forecasting, have no fear; Pinterest is sure to tell you which season is swiftly approaching. Our most popular pins of the week strangely all had one common theme: blurring the lines between inside and out. And we don’t blame you. Who wouldn’t want to wave goodbye to sullen grays and hello to vivid green? Follow us on Pinterest for more inspiring imagery to spring you out of your Winter slumber. Clockwise from top left: 1. Our Top Picks: Multi-Functional Planters

When living within an urban sprawl, there are certain things you tend to sacrifice for the luxury of the hustle and bustle. While we all realize how important it is to add a little green to your space, we also acknowledge the importance of each and every square inch of our downtown dwellings. Investing in objects with multiple uses to cut down on space seems to be a no-brainer, but have you ever considered adding plants to the mix? Ergo, the multi-functional planter. Below are five of our top planter picks that also serve as other household objects such as light, art, and even a humble abode for Mr. Kitten. Sources: 1. Planter Pendant Light – Meirav Barzilay / 2.
