Our Top Picks: HGTV Fresh Faces of Design 2015

Crazy for Color | House of Many Styles   When HGTV approached us to submit our work for this year’s HGTV Fresh Faces of Design Competition, we knew exactly which house to send. If you’ve been a longtime follower of our Facebook or Instagram, you’ve had a private tour behind one of downtown’s historic row houses that boasts an interior far from “cookie cutter”. Full of color, texture, and branded spaces that speak to each family member’s personality, West Perry is undoubtedly one of our favorite projects to date. We’re honored to be a part of a curated selection of other talent across the country that puts just as much emphasis on designing a branded environment; ensuring a space that both reflects the homeowner and can easily evolve along with their lifestyle. And now, we need your help to claim the title of winner in either the Master Retreats or Crazy for Color…

Chic Shelves in Three Simple Steps

You’ve finally found the bookshelf of your dreams and all seems right in the world – until you realize said bookshelf is empty. Standing tall in your library or living room with nothing to showcase but the price tag and perhaps a shipping kernel or two. And, your bookshelf is only a million accessory combinations away from being perfect. Where do you start? Let these three simple tips get you going, and if all else fails, we’ve got your back. Step #1: Symmetry Start by using larger accessories to anchor the shelf and add a sense of rhythm, seen above with a plaster urn and matching planters. Keeping a symmetrical pattern at eye level will make more “organic” styling look purposeful instead of chaotic. Step #2: Cohesive Variety Collect art and objects that differ in shape but share the same tonal values or subject matter. We curated a collage behind…

Quiz: What Type of Dweller Are You?

Perhaps our favorite part of the job is getting to know the way our clients live and interact with their homes. Having designed for busy families and retiring couples alike, we know how important it is for design to both fit your needs as well as reflect a piece of your identity. Possibly the root of all our interiors is one simple question: How do you dwell? Take this simple quiz and discover what kind of space might best suit your lifestyle. When you’re finished, share your results on Facebook or Twitter (or both!) using one of the badges below and the hashtag #rethinkhowyoudwell.   1. It’s Summer time in the South. Your next weekend hangout spot is: A. A trip into town to soak up some rays while snagging the best deals. B. A trip to the park with the kids and pup in tow. C. Wherever your toes…

New Brass + Copper Lighting from Barn Light Electric

If design trends have taught us anything over the past several years, it’s that popular metallic finishes like brass and copper are here to stay. Up until now, the lighting industry has made leaps and bounds with decorative fixtures, but the industrial aesthetic kept to its familiar finishes: enamel and galvanized steel. All of that is changing now thanks to Barn Light Electric, a forerunner in the industrial lighting biz and a particularly favorite vendor for some of our commercial projects (think farm-to-table in Asheville and future Savannah-based butcher shop). If you’re looking to add a bit of shine to your next kitchen, bath, or commercial project, check out some of our favorite picks from the new collection. Having trouble with scale and placement? Give us a ring – we’d be happy to help. Sources: 1. Outback Industrial Brass Pendant / 2. Bowie Copper Wall Sconce / 3. Fargo…
